Is there a way to convert *.ise file to / from *.xml file?

I need to check these files to a version control system. But the binary format make it failed to compare. You never know what have been changed! A file added or a shortcut added.

We know *.ise/ *.ism file is MSI database (*.msi). And can be opened by Orca. There is a utility to convert msi and xml. But ise/ism file have a lot of IS tables created by Installshield. Even it can be convert to xml after some change on source code. But the result msi file from xml file cannot be used by by InstallShield!

Any way to handle the difference of a lot ise files. e.g. add a license file to 100+ ise files?

Thanks,

Herbert

For ISM files, you can select General Information > Project Properties > Project File Format, and change the setting to XML. (The file name extension will still be .ism after you do this.)

As for making programmatic changes to ISM files, you might look into using the InstallShield X Automation interface.
