View Full Version : Problems Launching PDF's in DS 5.4

Okay, I know, 5.4 is old. There's a reason why we're still on 5.4, but I won't get into it. Anyway, I've read numerous posts regarding the problems with various versions of DS and Acrobat. None of the workarounds I saw seemed to be applicable to version 5.4. I'm using IsPDF for my test, which works fine. I use 'Launch Associated Application' to open the PDF files, which also works fine except for one scenario. If the full version of Adobe Acrobat is installed on the client workstation, my demo won't open the PDF. Is there a workaround for this that will work in DS 5.4?

TIA - Dave

Can you export the key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf" from the registry and post a copy to this forum? Make sure you choose the "Win9x/NT4 Registration File" type when you export the key.

Here's the text of exported key from the registry of the PC with the full version of Acrobat.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf]
@="AcroExch.Document"
"Content Type"="application/pdf"

What about "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document\shell\Open\command"?

Here's the text from the exported registry key:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Acrobat 5.0\\Acrobat\\Acrobat.exe\" \"%1\""

The key value appears to be correct. Can you check if this file exists:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe?
