Dear!

Do you know which msiexec parameter (in DOS-PROMPT) can extract the included files in a *.msi setup?

I don't want to install the whole program, because I only need some information about the included dlls in the msi-file, but how can I access them without installing the msi file?

thanks in advance
Deniz

We can extract the binaries out of setup.msi. For that we need to download a utility called WiX. After installing it have to run following command line for extraction binaries:

C:\WiX>dark.exe <PATH_OF_SETUP.MSI> <PATH_OF_XML_FILE_TO_CREATE> /x <PATH_OF_FOLDER_TO_STORE_EXTRACTED_BINARIES>

The result of this conversion (file.XML) and extraction (/x) is a file.XML (which is of no use for us) and the binary files contained within the MSI file.

WiX can be downloaded from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/wix/

Please let me know if more info is required on this.
