Hello,

I need to create a file (like an INI) where it parses the installation path to give something like

DRIVE=
PATH01=
PATH02=
PATH03=
PATH04=
PATH05=

Specifically, I need to make a file which reads

:DRIVE:PATH01/PATH02

1. Could I do a replace of the ":\" of the PATH variable with a simple ":"
2. Is it easy to create a new file with Installshield?

thanks

Express 3.5x supports VB Script Custom Actions which makes easier (at least for me) because you can interact with the install (and msi file) on a COM level (Express 3.0x) supports DLL and Exe custom actions which you can use for this too. I am personally more comfortable with VBScript). You can retrieve the value of INSTALLDIR (a variable which stores where the user decides to install your app) then parse/edit it any way you want and create your file using VBScript's FileSystemObject and string functions.

Hope this answers your question.
