I've posted this to installshield.is6.general for you.
installshield.iswi.general is for questions about InstallShield for Windows
Installer.

I'm trying to get two thrid party products to install in Silent mode (using the /s parameter and a setup.iss recorded file) But the setup program does not run. If I do not use the silent mode, but just invoke setup.exe the setup program runs and then the user must answer the questions to install the products.

Iam in charge of updating nearly 90 machines from NT4 and EcoSCOPE 4.01 to Win2K and EcoSCOPE 4.3, so far I have created a CD-R that:
- boots
- install Win2K (with SP2)
- adds some registry entries
- adds the Compaq drivers for the machines (Compaq DL-320)
- install WinZip
- install the Compuware OS Update *
- install Compuware EcoSCOPE as a probe *
- install the latest EcoSCOPE update patch
- show the user final instructions for deployment
* everything but these are fully automated/unattended

Below is my unattend.txt file (sensitive information has been replaced by *)

The lines in question are Command 5 and Command6 at the end of the file. If I take the '/s' off they run and require the user to complete the install. With the '/s' the setup.exe starts and then nearly instantly quits (with out performing the install).

I was told to try running the 'setup /s' commands from a batch file, but that too lead to similar results.

Further the two Compuware installers both use InstallShield 6 (unsure of which edition).

I'm afraid you have the wrong newsgroup :)

This is for InstallShield Express. I know we do Unatended Installs ineither InstallShield Professional and InstallShield Developer. Try posting this on the following newsgroups

installshield.is5.general
installshield.is6.general
installshield.developer7.general

What happens if you copy your iss file to the Windows Folder or the System Folder? I remember with Developer 7 we had an issue where the /s parameter looks for the iss file in either the Windows Folder or System Folder and quits if it can't find it. This was fixed in the 7.01 update.

Also, what happens if you run the the silent install with the f1 or f2 parameters (not sure which) which gives the path to the iss file?
