View Full Version : desktop icon shortcut

I am trying to create a straightforward desktop icon to appear on installation. The problem I have is that the icon is appearing within a folder on the desktop. Meaning that users have to click on the folder and then click on the icon. Which is a bit clunky.

I assume it is a basic issue to resolve.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Leave the "Folder" property of the Shortcut blank.

This is explained in the "Shortcut Properties topic (http://helpnet.installshield.com/Robo/BIN/Robo.dll?tpc=/robo/projects/isxuniversalhelplibrary/topics/shortcut_properties.htm) for the "Folder" property as follows:

"For this Shortcut to appear on the desktop but not inside of a folder, leave this property blank."

Im using IS Developer v 7. I have dropped a desktop icon to my application and it works fine.

The problem is that when another user logs onto the system then the icon is not available.

I am using IS to create the icon under "Configure the Target Syste => Shortcuts".

How can I make the icon available to all the users of the machine? Is the only way to do it through install script or can I still use the Shortcuts item of IS ?
