View Full Version : How to setup shortcut to system files via Setup Design?

I want to setup shortcuts in my Dev7 Basic project. The shortcuts will execute some system files to be launced. AddFolderIcon() is one way to do it, but I want to do it using Setup Design - the way is cleaner, e.g. the shortcuts will be automatically deleted in uninstall, I have to call DeleteFolderIcon() in the former way.

The problem is that once I add a new shortcut via Setup Design (component name->Shortcuts, under a certainfolder, right click and select 'New Shortcut'), Dev7 will launch a browsing dialog "Browse for Shortcut Target", which ONLY lis the folders that I will install files in. The files I want to use to launch shortcut is under system folder (system32), is there a way that I can avoid this restriction, i.e. I can navigate to system32 dir?

Perhaps, you want to use New Shortcut to Preexisting File as described in Creating Shortcuts (http://documentation.installshield.com/Robo/BIN/Robo.dll?tpc=/robo/projects/helplib/IHelpMarsCreateShortcut.htm).
