someone has given me an MSI file?

I have been given an installer (uncompressed) including an MSI file. Person said i can create a MST file to change the product name, product code, and package code of the installer.
does anyone here know how to do this?

Hi,

You can do it by using transform wizard. Wizard creates MST based on differences between two msi packages

Try Copy/Paste to make second msi. Then just do what person said: change the product name etc. for a copy of msi. You can use program called ORCA (included in Windows Installer SDK) for editing msi files.

but isn't that just basically modifying the MSI file? can i just do that instead?

Sure you can. If you don't need MST then just edit your original MSI.

i can change the package code/product code in the MSI, but somehow even if i change the product name, the name that appears in the Add/Remove Programs is still the original one...

any suggestions?
