View Full Version : Custom action - call executable question

I'm installing an executable that will be run at the end of the installation.

So far,
- I created a component for the exe
- The exe is installed in a subdirectory of my install folder.
- Added it as a custom action
- Added an Install Exec condition of $executable_component = 3 (which supposedly verifies that the component is installed on the local machine)

Unfortunately, when it gets to the step where the executable should run, a command window opens briefly and that's it. The program does not run. If we run the program from the command line it works fine.

From the command line the call looks like this
executable -installpath "Install directory"

so in the CommandLine of the custom action I defined I put
executable -installpath [INSTALLDIR]

Any ideas of what I am doing wrong? Do I need to put the subfolder folder the exe at the start of the line? Is it a problem with spaces in my install directory path?

FYI, I don't know InstallScript and don't have the time to learn it before this release has to go out.

Thanks.
