I am new to Installshield for Windows Installer and need some advice regarding technical books or guides for learning InstallShield X.

I am familiar with the series of books that Bob Baker has written and even have one of his older books (The Official InstallShield for Windows Installer - Developers Guide). However being a newbe I have found much of his information difficult to understand. My hope was there was another source for InstallShield X information..?

Any advice or direction will be greatly appreciated.

However being a newbe I have found much of his information difficult to understand. That is the key to this line of development. The latest book by Mr. Baker "Practical Windows Installer Solutions..." is an excellent reference. In a post awhile back someone asked a similar question and my response then was that these communities as well as sites like installsite (http://www.installsite.org) and appdeploy (http://www.appdeploy.com/) are excellent resources. The best way to learn is to ask questions here, and make mistakes and learn from them there.
Hope this helps.

Nate,

Thanks for the advice on the books and the web pages. The Practical Windows Installer Solutions book will make a great addition to our company library. As I work through some of the tutorials and some of our own installations I will definitely use this forum.
