BRIEF INTRO:
I am consistently get the following error
ERROR 27502: Cannot connect to SQL Server (local)\TELESYM_DB_SVC.

My InstallScript MSI project used Database Import Wizard to create a SQL Metadata script installed MSDE. The pre-requisite redistributables are MSDE SP3a and MDAC 2.8.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

INSTALLATION TEST:

Loaded pre-requisite redistributables are MSDE SP3a and MDAC 2.8

1) Welcome panel ... Next >
2) Consumer panel ... Next >
3) Setup Type panel ... Next > (Note: I would wish to get rid of this panel)
4) SQL Server panel ...
Select "(local)\TELESYM_DB_SVC"
Select SQL Authentication
Login ID: sa
Password: manager
Next >
5) Start copying files...
(Note: What goes into the "Current Settings:" field?)
6) Setup Status
Gets as far as Installing ODBC Components... then error message:
ERROR 27502: Cannot connect to SQL Server (local)\TELESYM_DB_SVC

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

POST FAILED INSTALL STATUS:
COMPLETED:
1) MSDE 2000 SP3a was deployed within C:\MSDE
2) MSDE 2000 SP3a was started as a service MSSQL$TELESYM_DB_SVC
3) ODBC Data Source: New System DSN was added with the name TELESYM_DB_SRC and connected to SQL Server (local)\TELESYM_DB_SVC

NOT COMPLETED:
4) Adding the SQL Metadata from the script created by the "Database Import Wizard"

I am sorry this is long, but this is what I have discovered.

This ODBC data source is accessible and modifiable using standard SQL scripting tools.
