I am attempting to a a realitivly simple install requirement which is Acrobat Reader 6.0.

Usieing system search I added a regestry entry for

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\6.0\Installpath

Acrobat 6.1 is installed and the regestry entry is present and correct.

I store the value in a property and use the property as an install condition.

The install builds but when it runs the condition message indicating the regestry key is not found displays and the install aborts.

This should be a relativly easy operation you would think but aparantly I a too dumb to figure it out.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

DT

What is the exact condition statement that you are using as your Launch Condition? If this fails, the failed message will be displayed. So, make sure that the condition stament is correct. Perhaps you can insert a vbscript custom action before the LaunchConditions action that displays the value of the property that you are setting. Also make sure that the AppSearch action runs before the LaunchConditions action in your sequence (which is the default behavior).

Found the problem

Useing the System Search Wizard

Under "Choose the item you want to search by from the list below:"

I had been picking

"Registry entry, that contains a file path"

when I changed it to

"Registry entry, that contains a folder"

it worked
