I am using Dev 7.04 basic MSI project. I am attempting to create a major upgrade.

My major upgrade seems to find the existing installation, but then skips it. In the log file below, it finds the product code of the existing product, but then doesn't complete the FindRelatiedProducts action or something. Here is what the log file says when the installer his the FindRelatedProducts action:

Action start 11:12:09: FindRelatedProducts
MSI (c) (2C:30): FindRelatedProducts: current install is per-user. Related install for product '{71232531-82CC-4DD5-863F-3F5F7F8D1E50}' is per-machine. Skipping...
Action ended 11:12:09: FindRelatedProducts. Return value 1.

What does that mean? Why does it appear to be skipping the FindRelatedProducts action?

Here are the steps I have followed thus far for a major upgrade:
-changed package code
-changed product code
-changed product version
-left upgrade code the same

-added this entry to upgrade table:
*added my upgrade code
*0.0.0 as version min
*2.0.0 as version max
*1792 as attribute
*OLDPRODUCTS as action property

-in property manager, have SecureCustomProperties set to OLDPRODUCTS

Thanks

Hi,

I think logfile is trying to say "current install is for all users and you are trying to install upgrade for you only".

Set your major upgrade to all users and then see what happens (property ALLUSERS=1).
