View Full Version : Using registry values for directories

I'm new to InstallShield so bear with me.

We're creating a basic msi installer and at one point we want to copy files into a Sharepoint template directory. I can get the directory location from a registry value. Is there any way to get this directory from the registry value and use it as a destination directory for files.

For MSI based projects you will see a view called System Search. The System Search view will do exactly what you need.

OK, I used system search and store the registry value in a property I created. How do I get this property to be an install folder for some of my files?

You should use the system search to set a directory instead of a property and then use that directory as a component destination.

Got it. Thanks.
