I've been evaluating InstallShield X for 2 days now, but still have not done any major brealthroughs. In particular I found it hard to figure out how to do this:

1. Display a dialog asking a user to set a path, then
2. Replace a placeholder in my RestoreDatabases.cmd batch file with the path selected by the user in Item 1.
3. Run the modified RestoreDatabases.cmd file.

Perhaps it's a stupid question, but I do need to get this simple things resolved to speed up on my learning curve.

Any help is highly appreciated,
Startup

To start, you might look at one of the dialog-sampler tools in Start > All Programs > InstallShield > InstallShield X Tools to see if there's a dialog box you like (such as AskPath); once you've found it, you can enter the appropriate function call to the OnFirstUIBefore event handler of your script.

As for the others, InstallScript has file-manipulation and extensibility functions that should do what you want; these are described in the InstallShield X Help Library...

Robert,

Thank you, this is the level of guidance that works best (with me :) ). I'll give it a try and probably ask another question.
