Where to install 3rd Party components to?

Could be a little off-topic:

When deploying 3rd party components (ie. Farpoint Spread 7.0), where should they be installed to? and should they be flagged as shared?

Should they go into my app installdir or into systemdir?

What is the "best practice" for 3rd party component redistribution?

Section 2.6 of the "Designed for Windows XP" requirements suggest the locations:

[CommonFilesFolder]ThirdPartyVendor\

or:

[ProgramFilesFolder]ThirdPartyVendor\Shared Files\

You should be able to download the list of requirements from: http://www.microsoft.com/winlogo/software/downloads.mspx.
