Hi,

sorry to bring up the subject of MSDE again, because I know it has been discussed a hundred times already, but...

As I understand it, Microsoft now recommends NOT using the MSDE merge modules. Our product does use the merge modules, but (after the SQLSlammer disaster) I would like to stop using them and use the original Microsoft installation.

What is the best approach for installing MSDE without using the merge modules?

Phil

We have heard the same recommendation, a move away from merge modules and towards the redistirbutable executables. Here are links to resources provided by Microsoft for MSDE. Essentially, what this means is to include the executable and launch it with script or a custom action during your installation.
