I have packaged my application in Install Developer 7.01 and it has been installed in a lot of client places with differenct product code. Now we are releasing a new version of the same product packaged in Installshield 8.0. Now when i install this product it is not Uninstalling the older version .

Is there any way we can identify the msi used in the older version and uninstall it, when i install my new setup.exe. I dont want to use the Add/Delete program to uninstall the older version.

Do you know UpgradeCode of your old package? If you do, one possible solution is make major upgrade.

A Major Upgrade appears to be just the thing for this situation. They can be accomplished either with Dev 8's Upgrade View (which uses the MSI Upgrade table) or with a custom action that calls the uninstall string with the script function LaunchAppAndWait.

Using the Upgrade table will allow the MSI engine to identify the existing msi used in the older version and uninstall it.

To help you better understand Major upgrades, I would recommend that you read the Help Library article on Major upgrades. It is quite useful and will help to explain the issue.
