Since Check for Updates doesn't work on my machine (previous post at http://community.installshield.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125736), I manually downloaded the object from http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp?articleid=q108991 for DevStudio 9 and no matter what I do (installed multiple times and as different users), I don't see it in the list of available objects. I see someone had a post (http://community.installshield.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=124407) where screen shots of what it should look like are shown but that's not in my list.

It looks like it gets installed to C:\WINDOWS\ISObjects\ISDX9\{FF76DF9B-0667-4DD7-9D17-72AE28DA8189} under the name "InstallShield MSDE 2000 Object for NT Platforms for DevStudio.msi" but that's an MSI rather than an object so maybe this isn't it??? Either way, DevStudio 9 is not recognizing that I have installed it or I'm doing something wrong and it isn't showing up.

Well, I see this object now if I do a basic MSI setup. If this is an object, why isn't it available with an InstallScript "professional" like project? Is the availability of this noted somewhere on a per project type basis?

This is the summary line from the description.

The InstallShield MSDE 2000 for NT Platforms Object is now available for InstallShield DevStudio 9.x and Developer 8.x. This article includes the link to download this object and additional information and limitations of the object.

The Limitation sections says:

The MSDE 2000 setup is a Windows Installer setup.

I thought the Merge Module Holder would let me insert available *.msm files and that's what the InstallShield MSDE 2000 Object for NT Platforms is so why can't I use it in my "professional" like install?

Hi,

There are three types of MSMs that you may see when authoring an MSI project:
1. Pure MSMs. (Pink box with a blue arrow.)
2. MSMs with InstallScript. (Looks the same as #1.)
3. InstallShield Objects. (Blue box.)

The first two will work with the Merge Module holder object. The third is an object technology that only works for MSI-based installations. This is why you do not see these items in InstallScript projects.

Yes, there is but I can't seem to get that object to install properly on Server 2003.

Is there an error at install time?

None that I noticed but it didn't install.
