View Full Version : Problem adding an object while in Visual Studio .NET

When changing a DevStudio 9 InstallScript project from within Visual Studio .NET or Visual Studio .NET 2003, and trying to add any object to a feature, I get an error message (shown below). No big deal, I always use DevStudio 9 from outside Visual Studio, but I'll report it here for completeness sake.

Also, when right clicking on an existing object (already added to a feature) I get the error message "Unknown Error".

Ted.

Hi Ted,

If this happens with all objects, try registering all of the files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Objects.

Yes, it does happen with all objects. I tried registering those DLLs in the objects folder but it didn't help. It works perfectly from within DevStudio 9, the problem only occurs within Visual Studio .NET.

I'm not sure if it's my machine or not, I'll try on another machine when I get a chance.

Ted.

Hi Ted,

We've reproduced this, and are working on a fix right now.

I'm having the same problem with Visual Studio 2003 .NET + InstallShield Devstudio 9. The problem occurs only in Visual Studio IDE for all objects...

Any fixes for this yet?

Hi All,

It'll be fixed in the SP. It's WO 1-FRXLP.
