View Full Version : About Minimizing a Launched DOS Application

I am currently usin LaunchAppAndWait in order to wait until the launched application terminates before continuing.

I used the article q100249 (http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp?articleid=q100249) to launch my DOS app in a minimized window.

HOWEVER, the _LAunchMin in the article q100249 doesn't use the WAIT which crucial in my case.

would you have any idea how to launch a dos app in minimized window and wait until the app terminated before continuing?

thanks in advance

There is a funciton at InstallSite.org that will launch a DOS app, not show the DOS Window and wait for it to finish before moving on. It is called Extended Version of LaunchAppAndWait. I have used it many times in my installs and it works great. You can find it here: ExtendedLaunchAppAndWait (http://www.installsite.org/pages/en/isp_ext.htm)

Use the new version that was updated by Stefan Krueger

If it's not a requirement that the DOS app is run minimized, try using LaunchHiddenAppAndWait, then the DOS app is invisible to the user and you can use WAIT. If I remember correctly you can find the code for LaunchHiddenAppAndWait at www.installsite.org.
