SP1 has to be installed to a different directory. This means it is not able to update the previous release.

It's typically quite easy to migrate. Most often, you would copy your classes directory, ismp.registry, and alias.properties files into the home directory for the new instance of MultiPlatform. By doing this, you will not have to recreate your aliases (if any) or register your custom beans again.

Note: if you have modified any of the .cp or .cp1, files copy them as well.

Yes,

but it would be easier for the customer if ISMP would be able to handle the update. That's what I expect from the masters of installation.

I second that motion...InstallShield should make it easier on the customer, not on themselves...especially since they are the installer gurus.
