I have a very strange problem. I have a number of
Installshield setup routines that hang when I try to run
them under Windows XP. They all seem to be setup.exe's
produced by one of the Installshield products. One
setup.exe is V 5.10.146.0 for a product called FormFlow
Filler. A second is version 5.52.164.0 for Acrobat Reader
5. A third is version 3.0.95.0 for a product called
QVTTerm. The setup.exe files for FormFlow Filler and
QVTTerm are 16 bit, the setup.exe for Acrobat Reader is
32 bit. The behavior is simply that when I try to run
one of these setup routines, it hangs in memory and stays
there. No error message, nothing in the event log. (The
16 bit files hang under wowexec). I did discover that
these setup.exe files run fine when I start up in safe
mode. I have updated the video and NIC drivers. I have
installed SP1A. I have installed all of the critical and
driver updates that windows update says I need. I looked
on Installshield's site and did not find anything there.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Any suggestions for
further troubleshooting? Thanks!

It sounds as if these installers are using InstallShield Professional 5.x and 3.x; you might have better luck posting your question to the Professional 5.x community: http://community.installshield.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=58.
