I want to build my first setup for installing my product. After that I want to build updates of my product each month, with all the changes that I have made in this time.
But, sometimes an unexpected problem occurs so I have to change some .exe or .dll manually to fix it bitween two releases.

I want to know if I can do this manual change, because I think that I wiil have problems with futures updates of my product or when I want to uninstall it.

Thank you

Unfortunately doing the "Manual" fixes as you would like would cause problems. If you remove an exe or dll and replace it with a newer version MSI will try to repair the installation and replace the file with an older version. You can however do an upgrade and this will replace the files. I would suggest using the upgrade paths and creating an upgrade that will install these files. Also with express 4 you may want to consider creating a quick patch to do this. This will allow you to only update the couple of files that you would like to.
