View Full Version : Can a shortcut link to Add/Remove Programs?

The Express documentation for Creating and Uninstallation Shortcut says "Although it is possible to create a shortcut for uninstallation, the recommended way for users to uninstall products is via the Add/Remove Programs control panel." So, is it possible to make my "uninstall shortcut" link to the Add/Remove Programs control panel? There doesn't seem to be a predefined destination folder for the Control Panel.

You are using Express 4.0 right? If so launch help and look at the help topic "Creating an Uninstallation Shortcut".

Okay, I have 4.0 and need to install it. I was working from 3.5.

If you have 3.54 you could do it too (the help is not updated though):

1. Create a "New shortcut to pre-existing file"
2. In the resulting dialog select the [SystemFolder] and enter file name as msiexec.exe and press OK
3. Then in the shortcut's property, set the "Arguments" property to:

where {12345678-1234-1234-1234-123456789012} is your ProductCode (see General Information View).
