View Full Version : Command line parameters

Now using the new ISX4 I expected more command line parameter options.

My question is how is it possible to change the version number of the build using the command line? This is one, maybe the only, important parameter to set in an automatic build.

I'm afraid this is not possible in Express (or Developer either). The version number is an msi property so it cannot be set at build time. The only way to this in InstallShield Developer is also to use the Automation Layer to programmatically set this property and then build. Sorry :(.

Yes that would be great...

Changing the product version number and the product GUID code and adding a new upgrade path from the command line (or via automation) would be the only features that are missing from IE Express that we need.

We have an otherwise automated integration process on one single machine.

Buying developer edition is not an option because of cost.

Please reconsider adding a simple command line interface to change properties like this in Express.
