BUG: Installshield truncating application pool password.
I'm using Installshield 11.5 pro to install a website in IIS 6 via a basic MSI project. The installation also creates several app pools configured to run under specific identities. Installshield appears to truncate the last character of the password when the password is exactly 8 characters long and ends in the number 7. If the password has more or less than 8 characters or ends something other than the number 7 it works fine.
This is easily reproducible with a basic msi project that installs a single app pool with a configured identity. Anyone else encountered this? WTF? Last edited by bfraser : 06-02-2006 at 08:22 AM. |

Sounds strange, but I'm researching this. So far with no success. Could you perhaps try with a Basic MSI project to see if the app pool password is set correctly with that?

I am using basic msi (see post). The password I'm using is abcdefg7. I can send a zip file containing the project and the compiled msi that produces the behavior if you like.

Ok, I'm definitely reproducing this. Seems to affect InstallScript and Basic MSI regardless. I'll have to submit a bug. The issue is IOC-000050915.
