The customer has done this too. They found "v7.0" and "v9.0" runtimes and deleted them both. After that, our (v9.1 09\01) installer ran correctly.

Thanks for the suggestion.

What if deleting common files\installshield doesn't work?

Error: -5009 disaster,
I get the same error while running a setup.exe created with DS9. What other options can I try if deleting the common files IS folder doesn't work?

Does anyone know if there are COM files I can re-register?

Any help would be appreciated.

Recently encountered similiar problem with same error number and failure address at one of our test computers. It seems like some of the runtime files under C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime
seem to be from 7.x runtime (IsProbe.tlb, Ikernel.rgs,objectps.dll) while 10.x runtime was also present. But later when a installation created with 10.x is run, installshield thinks because 10.x engine files already exist it does not update these 3 files that are from 7.x. If we delete the files and folders under Runtime, then installation seems to run fine from next time onwards. Maybe these 3 files should not be in a common location.

Smile Thanks everyone!

I was having the same error code installing another piece of software. After an hour on the phone with customer "support" with no solution, I found your posts.

I renamed the folder

C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime

to RunTimebak and the software installed perfectly.

A big thank-you to everyone who took the time to post helpful suggestions. There are so many people I encounter in my daily life that are just out for themselves that it tends to make me rather cynical. So it's always refreshing to come to a help forum like this where we find people who are willing to help just to help. You may not get medals and award dinners in your honor, but to those of us you help it means the world.

Thanks again.
