Folder Permissions
I am trying to set folder permissions on folders I am installing through my setup. I tried giving Everyone some permissions, read, list. After the installation, the folder had those permissions but I couldn't access the folder. When I went through windows explorer and reapplied the permissions it worked. Is this a known issue, I would really appreciate some help on this. Thank you.

It seems like the directory permissions are not propagating to the files underneath. Is there a way to propagate the permissions or do I have to set each file's permission seperately? Thanks

I never thought of that option.
I always specifiy the security permissions for all the files. When I specify a directory it was only because the application created dynamic temp files in that location. I can think of a couple of really good reasons why I would not want to have inherited permissions in my script, but I can not definitivly answer your question, Sorry. I will keep a close eye on this post. ![]()

In my experience the permissions propogate down automatically. Although I have heard of this not happening when a folder is created in the root of C.
If you create a folder elsewhere with the same package do the permissions inherit? |
