Error 1933 - IIS 4.0 needed for configuring IIS Virtual Roots

Hi,

I have a user who is unable to install due to the following error: Error 1933.This setup requires Internet Information Server 4.0 or higher for configuring IIS Virtual Roots. Please make sure that you have IIS 4.0 or higher.

The OS is WinXP Professional. Has anyone else ever seen this? What's weird is that error 1933 is "The Windows Installer service cannot update one or more protected Windows files."

Also, I don't actually create any Virtual Directories in my setup, so I'm not sure why it's bringing up IIS.

Here is the excerpt from the log:
MSI (s) (90:2C): Note: 1: 2360
MSI (s) (90:2C): Note: 1: 2360

MSI (s) (90:2C): Product: ******-- Error 1933.This setup requires Internet Information Server 4.0 or higher for configuring IIS Virtual Roots. Please make sure that you have IIS 4.0 or higher.

Any leads would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Jason

Angry

We now encountered this issue with three PCs when installing on customer sites
This is a mess!
Each time a web server is running on the PC.
The problem occurs on Windows 2000 Pro and XP Pro.
The web server was IIS for two PC and Apache for the last.

We switched off the web services but the install still failed.

We can't say if it is due to the web server or not. May be that the web server has nothing to do with this failure.

Our problem today is that we can't reproduce it with our development team.

Jason, did you try to make a silent install to see if it works better ?
Did you solve it by your own ?
Do you have a web server on your PC ?

Please, H E L P !

Thx

Same problem with my setup.

I'm guessing that some how SFP (system file protection) is triggering IIS 4.0 repair/install.

What a wonderful technology.

Thanks,
Nathan
