Angry Windows Server 2003 SP1- Windows installer 3.1 problem

Using IS 11.5-

Installing an installation built with IS11.5 using Windows Installer 3.1 produces an error message that a file is in use and Windows Installer cannot be installed, when installing on Windows Server 2003 SP1 (without SP1 is fine).

It's a bug, either with InstallShield, or the Windows Installer 3.1 redistributable.

I can't think of a workaround, other than to tell the user to press OK to the message, and then the installation continues.....

It's a bug with InstallShield- IS shouldn't be trying to install Windows Installer 3.1 if it's already installed.

From here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

It says....

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 contains Windows Installer 3.1 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this redistributable.

Can someone from InstallShield comment please?

We are having to raise a support request with InstallShield so they actually fix it- we haven't raised it yet.
