InstallShield DLL Custom Action - Unknown Source ''.

I have a custom action, called at the very end of the sequence, which
calls a function in an installed DLL.

This works okay for a new install, but fails with the following error
    when performing an update!

Window title: InstallShield DLL Custom Action
    Error: Unknown Source ''.

I have produced a verbose log, but the error is not indicated within
the log! I have also looked at the properties for the custom action
but cannot see what is wrong!

    Any ideas/help ?

    Regards,
    Kevin Frost.

Are you perhaps using a property to access the dll in your custom
action...like SourceDir or INSTALLDIR or some such thing...that isn't
    defined during an "Update"?

    Just a thought.

I have had this problem and finally traced it to a custom action that was
setting a path to a file.

I had the path defined as : [SystemFolder]\MMC.EXE

    It should have been: [SystemFolder]MMC.EXE

This was in a CA type 51.

At least this might give you a hint about where to look.

The DLL I am trying to call is "INSTALLED WITH THE PRODUCT"
so the source for it is listed as "F1805_MyFile.dll"

The custom action was created with the custom action wizard so I
cannot understand why it should fail during an upgrade!?!

    Any other thoughts?
