INSTALLDIR: [Program Files]Company Name\ProductName\[Version Number]???!
I've just created a new installation for our application. The default
INSTALLDIR follows recommended guidelines of [Program Files]\Company
Name\Product Name. The new product is 7.0.x.
Our intention will be to release more versions of 7.0.x, and 7.1.x, and then
eventually 8.x.x.
Only one version 7.x.x can be installed on a computer at any one time; it's
likely that 8.x.x. will be able to co-exist with 7.x.x.
My question is, should our default INSTALLDIR be extended to also include
the MAJOR version number i.e.
[Program Files]\Company Name\Product Name\MAJOR_VERSION_NUMBER (i.e. 7)
I appreciate it's only a default, but most people don't change the default
unless they need to. Meaning it will attempt to install version 8 in the
same directory as version 7 unless the user changes the default???

IMHO, I would extend it.
