The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed.

I've made an installation using Installshield. On one machine I get the
following error message after starting the installation:

The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed.

Anyone know what's the problem ??

There is no one single answer, start with the suggestions in the IS KB
    article Q104985

I to have experienced this problem and have tried all the suggestions in the
article without success. I upgraded to the 6.3 last week with hopes this
was resolved but no such luck.

Was wondering if one of 3 things might be the culprit.
    1. DO not think this is it - using Juliet when recording CD because of long
file names and maybe installing computers are not able to use long file
    names.
    2. I used instructions on Installsite to Avoid the Maintenance Mode.
    3. I do my work on a Windows 2000 workstation and most of our installations
    are on Win 95/98.

    Any thoughts on these possiblities?

This is the secret part of InstallShields sales plans...no one knows why it
keeps popping up in version after version - we just keep hoping that the
next version, with all the nice features will fix this....and we buy
ut.....but this is reality, not a fairytale with - so far - a happy ending,
    unfortunatelly :-|

Allow me to borrow Microsoft's Windows ME tagline "It's just works" and
adjust it slightly for InstallShield - "It just happens."
