Installer Windows keeps on popping up

    Hello

Our application gets installed with all the relevant files
that are needed for the application to run. The application
also runs perfectly without any hassles.

We have been running the application and now have
manually updated the files for the software to a new version
of the software. If we launch Internet Explorer or even the virus software, the Installer window for our installer pops up time and time again.
We click the "Cancel" button like 20 - 30 times and eventually
the installer goes away. We can then use Internet Explorer
without any hassles. When then close IE down but if we try
to open up IE again, the installer pops up again. This repeats
itself everytime we close and re-open IE.

How can we stop the Installer window from popping up.
I don't want to have to uninstall our application and then
re-install it again. This is very frustrating as the Installer
uses up a lot of CPU capacity and is bringing the server
    to its knees.

    Regards,
    Simon

It sounds like IE or the AV software is missing files or files ahve changed and is attempting to replace them with the last known installer to interact with said files. Are you writing any system DLL's, etc that may be over-riding the ones used by IE or AV?

    Hello

As per the previous info, it only occurs when
we update our files. InstallShield tries to look
basically for the original setup files so it can
automatically overwrite the updated files with the
    older version files.

I need to know how I can stop this popup from
occurring and stop InstallShield from trying to
keep on running the popup to overwrite the
    files.

    Regards,
    Simon

Windows Installer doesn't like it when files it installed are tampered with after installation completes. To stop Windows Installer from repairing, you should do a proper upgrade, not just overwriting files.

    Hello Tsung-Huang

How to I force the installer to uninstall as it keeps on trying to repair the
    installation?

    Regards,
    Simon
