Change version number with a patch

Hi,
I am a little confused and have found no reference to this matter in the documentation. I would like to create an update package that just contains any new files and/or changed files. As it has to be delivered over the Net. I suppose I need to use a patch - but will the patch created from Installshield IDE allow me to do the following:
Will I be able to increase the verison number and will the product version now be changed for the product in the registry?
Will I be able to add new files to the update?

How do you build a minor upgrade? Will it contain only the file differential?
