**Component "mscomctl.ocx" or one of its dependencies**

    Hi folks,

Has anyone come across this peculiar error problem below,
after installing using InstallShield Express v3.53

    The Errors read below:

Component "mscomctl.ocx" or one of its dependencies
not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

    and

Component "comdlg32.ocx" or one of its dependencies
not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

How can I get around this? I have already checked and added
the Merged Module that includes these components automatically,
yet the errors keep appearing. This happens on a fresh
installation of Win 2000 Pro & XP Pro.
If the components exist on the operatings system and
have already been registered, you do not get thess errors.
    Thanks. Kind regards.

Do you get this message during the install or when you try to run your application (after the install). If you are including the merge modules it should work. Once you get the error message, are the files actually in the System folder? If so, what happens if you try to manually register them using RegSvr32?

    Hi Chandima,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, only when I try to run the application (after the install).

I have another machine with the components installed on
and that machine does not give any errors when I run the application.

I do include the merge modules, but the files do not get placed in the System folder. As I said they are fresh installs of the operating system.

How can I include these manually without the merge modules, I think they are causing me problems.

When creating the setup program, I chose the automatic scan of the VB6 project, will that be what is causing the problem? Help please.

    Thanks

This is extremely strange. If you are including the merge modules that means Express did it's job.

Are you running the setup with Administrative priviledges?
Can you manually copy these two files to the System folder and register them?
Run the setup with the following command line (to log the setup) and post it here:

    Setup.exe /v"/lv C:\InstLog.txt"

    Hi,

When I run the setup with the parameters you specified, a dialog box comes up with an explanation of the parameters, nothing else happens afterwards. Any more ideas?

    thanks
