MS has said that advertisements will happen on NT4 if Shell32.dll is >= 4.72.3110.0. I can't find any piece of software that will upgrade an NT4 O/S Shell32.dll! According to this website: Click Here (http://support.microsoft.com/servicedesks/fileversion/dllinfo.asp?sd=MSDN) Any version of IE >= 5.01 should update shell32.dll on NT4. Well, it doesn't. Any suggestions? I've tried selecting all the components from the IE Installs. Thanks!

See "Platform Support of Advertisement" in the Appendix of the 2.0 SDK.

Has anyone got a solution for this yet - or do we have to give up on Advertisment with NT4?

when you install IE you have to select the Active Desktop installation in order to get advertised shortcuts to work on NT4. Active Desktop started being an option in the IE installations in IE 4.01 and greater. Once you install the Active Desktop you can disable it with a policy and the advertisements still work. Hope this helps
