Directory and file permissions on XP

I am new to Installshield 5.1. I am modifying a script to install on XP. It installs fine but you cannot execute the application because of permission on the directory and some of the files. Has anyone used cacls to change the permission inside of and a version 5 script? Any information would be appreciated.
