View Full Version : Problem Installing Monitoring Software on Server

I have been having several problems getting WhatsUp Gold installed on my test server to evaluate it. I began with this problem:

Whenever I would try to install, I'd get this:
Error Code: -5004 : 0x80070005
Error Information: >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (3078)

I followed the standard instructions of:
No remote install
Clean temp files
Make sure no other instances of installation were running
Verifying that I have Admin rights (I'm the server Admin, I have the rights to the whole machine)
Etc

I ended up attempting a reinstall of InstallShield and then started getting THIS error:

The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched.
No such interface supported.

I copied the file for the InstallShield Engine from a machine that had a 'good' copy of it over to that directory and we were able to get through the initial problem and install the WhatsUp Gold software.

Now however, I'm having some issues with the program and need to uninstall/reinstall -or- repair it. But when I try to, I get this error:

When chosing OK, the following is showed instead:

"Setup has experienced an error

Please do the following:
- Close any running programs
- Empty your temporary folder
- Check your internet connection (Internet-based Setups)

Then try to run the Setup again.

Error code: -5001"

This is becoming a huge hassle. :mad: I need to get this software up and running to evaluate it.

Does ANYone have any suggestions??!
