Windows 98 Machine doesn't seem to read MSI installer properties

I have an installation that runs fine on other machines but seems to not run correctly on a particular windows 98 machine. Basically we create our own log file when installing and the first line fo the log is "Installing Version: [ProductVersion]". In the log on this machine tha product version is blank...but when I run the same installation on another machine(any OS) the product version gets filled in.

Any Ideas?????

maybe the Windows Installer version on the problem machine is wrong? Does your setup renew windows installer on win98?

Yep The installer automtically updates Windows Installer. I manually got on thier system and re-installed it as well. No luck.
