When compiling a script and it has errors they are listed at the bottom. In all the previous version of installshield you could just dbl Click on the error at the bottom and it would take you to that line. Now with X it does not do any thing. Is this by design or is it a defect?
I for one would like that feature put back in.
Thanks

Instead of double-clicking the error code in the Output window, right-click the error code and select Go to InstallScript Code.
Doing so will take you to the line in the script that corresponds with the error message.

Thanks for the reply Debbie.
Why did they change that? Double-clicking was so easy to do.

Debbie,
I have tried the right-click and I do not get an option "Go To InstallScript Code". Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Many users wanted to be able to quickly find out more details about an error that was listed in the Output window. So, the Output window was modified. Now when you single-click any error code hyperlinks (for compile errors, build errors, etc.) in the Output window, you jump directly to the Knowledge Base, where you can find more information about the specific error. I believe that when this functionality was added, the double-clicking capability went away, and the right-click options were left.

Which view is displayed, and what is the error?

I only get a small option dialog that gives me
Copy Ctrl + C
Clear
Select All Ctrl + A
What I did for testing was to remove a ; so it would get a compiler error. I have 1 error in the Compile pane at the bottom and I have clicked all over that line and I only get the option listed above.
Thanks

Hmm. Maybe you and I are looking at different tabs of the Output window.
The right-click functionality I described is available from the Tasks tab of the Output window.

Ok if I go to the Tasks tab that menu comes up there but there is nothing showing in that tab. The compiler errors are listed on the Compile tab.
So there is no way to jump to a compiler error in the script?

I'm not sure why the double-clicking from the Compile tab is not working. I'll enter a work order for that.
As a workaround, you can look at the compile error description and note the script line number for the error--it is enclosed in parentheses. Then you can move the scroll bar of the script window to that line. As you move the scroll bar, the line number is displayed as a ToolTip.

Ok, can you please send me the work order number after it is entered? Is there a way to keep track of those work orders from outside of Installshield?

The work order number is 1-PS69X.
When a new version of InstallShield or a service pack becomes available, you can check the release notes to see which work orders have been incorporated into that release.
